Open science or open research is the driving force behind the idea that all aspects of the scientific process, from hypothesis to data, should be freely available to everyone. This openness means that design and analysis decisions are explicitly laid out, and the reader can make their own judgements about the extent of the evidence and the conclusions they draw.
The range of initiatives includes open access to research publications, open materials, data and code, and preregistration of study protocols.
